Gasoline could rise further | VAT News

After crossing the $2 per liter threshold barely a month ago, the price of gasoline reached $2.21.9 per liter on Saturday in the greater Montreal area. Now, experts suggest that the price of gasoline might reach $2.30/L.

“Unless there is a global economic crisis or we see a change in Vladimir Putin’s stance on Ukraine, I believe prices will remain rigid and continue to escalate.” , says Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy.

This increase in the price of gasoline not only affects holiday projects many Quebecers, but also the transportation industry.

“At some point, $2.30, $2.35 here in Montreal, obviously it’s not going to be something laudable, but it will happen one way or another,” McTeague says.

Governments should consider surveying consumers, says McTeague.

“Consumers may believe that gasoline taxes are too high, that it’s time to develop our hydrocarbon resources, maybe it’s time to find other measures to relieve this increase,” he said.
