Gaza: Prominent Palestinian scientist and president of the Islamic University of Gaza, Sufyan Taih, and his family were killed in an airstrike in the Al-Falujah region of Jabalia, northeastern Gaza. 100 Palestinians, including Sufyan Taih and his family, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza on Saturday.

He was selected as one of the top two percent researchers in the world in 2021. He has also received the Abdul Hamid Shoman Award for Young Arab Scientists. In 2023, Sufian was also appointed as the head of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization for Physical, Astronomical and Space Sciences in Palestine.

A week-long ceasefire between Hamas and Israel ended at 7am on Friday. Within minutes of the end of the ceasefire deadline, Israel launched attacks in various areas. Qatar and Egypt held talks to extend the ceasefire for two more days, but did not come to fruition. Although Hamas expressed interest in a complete ceasefire in the talks, there are indications that Israel is not ready.
