GCC Parliamentary Council Meeting in Doha: Addressing Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and Promoting Global Cooperation

Doha: The meeting of the Shura, National and Parliamentary Councils of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will begin today in Doha.

Qatar Shura Council Speaker Hassan Abdullah Al Ghanim will preside over the 17th GCC Parliamentary Meeting, which will be held from 5 to 7 at Luceil Hall, Ritz Carlton Hotel. Around 100 people including presidents, members and secretaries general of the Parliamentary Councils of the Gulf countries will participate.

The meeting is being held in a critical situation where the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is intensifying.

Shura Council Deputy Speaker Dr. Hamda Hassan Al Sulaithi stated that the GCC Parliamentary Councils prioritize the issue of Palestine as the primary issue of Arab and Muslim origin.

The meeting will address Israel’s brutal violence against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

It will urge world parliaments to reject Israeli aggression and pressure their respective governments to stop the aggression.

Cooperation and integration between the legislative councils of the Gulf countries will be discussed.

It will also aim to organize coordination meetings between various international parliamentary forums to consolidate positions on various issues.

Cooperation with parliaments at the global level will also be discussed. Since 2007, Qatar has been hosting the GCC Parliamentary Council meeting.
