Preparations for the first phase of the GCC railway project have begun in Kuwait. Nine companies remained when the technical bid of the project was opened and the inspection was completed to confirm the tender in the first phase.
The authority allowed the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation to verify the documents submitted by the companies. Officials hope to complete the bid verification and confirm the contract soon.
In the first phase, the railway line will be built from the southern border of Saudi Arabia to Kuwait City. This railway will bring regarding a major change in the transport sector as it will make travel and freight easier and cheaper.
The Gulf Railway project was formed with the objective of facilitating commercial movement in the GCC member states.
