Geekbench cracks down on data fraud, permanently removes four-year Galaxy S series flagships

A few days ago, the moderator shared that some users found that Samsung added restrictions on the Galaxy S series, which slowed down the performance of more than 10,000 programs, but some games and benchmarking programs are not limited by this. After the news was widely reported by the media, the benchmarking platform Geekbench took action to remove the benchmark scores of the Galaxy S series flagships in the past 4 years from the rankings on the grounds that Samsung was suspected of data fraud.

The phones involved include the Galaxy S22 series, S21 series, S20 series, and S10 series, all of which will be removed from Geekbench, but the Galaxy Note and Galaxy A series devices are not affected, as their data does not appear to have been affected. The cause of this incident is that users discovered One UI 4’s GOS (Game Optimizing Service) software, which improves battery life by manipulating the performance of over 10,000 programs.

Although Samsung promises to make improvements through system updates and allow users to directly adjust game-related performance in the future, Geekbench’s current policy is to permanently delist devices involved in counterfeiting. The last high-profile removal from Geekbench was last year’s OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, both of which were found to have fake data.
