Geely Coolray 2022: latest crossover news

crossover Geely Coolray 2022 is today included in the list of the most popular cars on the Russian market. Moreover, as the stocks of foreign competitors are reduced, the demand for the Chinese model is gradually increasing. And, probably, Coolray sales will only grow in the near future. This is supported by the fact that the Chinese crossover has recently undergone major changes that improved it qualitatively.

Moreover, the new Coolray has already reached Russia. True, so far only one copy of the crossover has been captured in one of the metropolitan parking lots. It is not yet known why the car was brought to Russia. There is no information on the Web that dealers have set up deliveries of the crossover to our country as part of parallel imports. This indicates that the car was brought by the company Geely.

Therefore, we can expect that the Chinese crossover will soon go to the standard tests necessary for certification to enter the Russian market. If this information is confirmed, then in the first half of 2023 the car will go to domestic car dealerships. But one question remains: will Geely import this model from China or start its production at the Belarusian automobile plant. The first option looks more likely so far. The fact is that a model imported from China was photographed on the territory of a Moscow parking lot. If it really was delivered for certification, then this means that Geely is at least considering importing Coolray to Russia.

At the same time, the Chinese company is now working on another crossover update. The first photos with a prototype of the future model have already appeared on the Web. While the car is covered with camouflage, which makes it difficult to imagine how it will look. But even so, the prototype opens up a number of noteworthy features that may be implemented in the future of Coolray. First of all, the developers installed a new rectangular grille. The front air intake has a similar configuration. And in the center of the rear bumper, engineers placed 4 exhaust pipes at once.

Also, the published photos partially reveal the interior of the Chinese model. A huge, vertically oriented touchscreen appeared here, which Geely had previously introduced into the “older” crossovers. Perhaps the Chinese company is now testing a hybrid modification of Coolray. This is evidenced not only by the similarity in the design of the cabin with the “older” models, but also by the presence of an additional hatch on the body for a port designed to recharge the battery.

Geely has yet to comment on the new version of Coolray. Accordingly, there is no reliable information about the timing of its completion. Perhaps the car or its concept will be presented in April at the auto show, which will be held in Shanghai.

In turn, recently in Russia, Geely offered a new G-Link complex with Coolray. Thanks to him, the driver can remotely (via a smartphone) control the alarm and start the engine. The complex also included telematic equipment, with the help of which information is tracked on routes of movement, travel history, and so on. That is, this functionality is designed primarily for car sharing and taxi services, where Coolray is in demand. It is also important that the surcharge for the new telematics complex is only 34 thousand rubles (photo: chinese-cars.rf and autohome.com.cn). Author: Fedor Averiev
