GeForce RTX 4060, the first rumors appear, what do we know?

The first rumors around the GeForce RTX 4060 appear. This solution will tackle the mid-range.

According to a new rapport, this future GeForce RTX 4060 will require a little more power than the current GeForce RTX 3070. Clearly, its TDP will be higher. The GeForce RTX 3070 uses a version of the GA104 GPU with a thermal envelope of 220 Watts. The GeForce RTX 4060 would suddenly be accompanied by a thermal envelope higher than this already impressive value.

The information is not a surprise because Nvidia is gradually increasing the TDP of its GeForce xx70 and xx60. Where a GeForce GTX 960 required 120 Watts, we are now on 170 Watts for the GeForce RTX 3060. This mid-range segment is certainly more and more efficient but it is also more and more greedy.

GeForce RTX 40 series, release date

In parallel, another leak has published release dates for certain GeForce RTX 40 series references. According Wccftech Nvidia has changed its initial schedule by postponing the launch by a month. We would now be on

  • October 2022 for the GeForce RTX 4090,
  • November 2022 for the GeForce RTX 4080,
  • December 2022 for the GeForce RTX 4070,
  • And CES 2023 for the GeForce RTX 4060.

This is the second time that delays have been announced. The first reports mentioned a launch for the month of July. As a result, we must remain cautious, uncertainty is still significant.
