In a ceremony held at the Casa Grande del Pueblo, President Luis Arce sworn in General Orlando Ponce this Friday as the new Police Commander to replace General Jhonny Aguilera.
Ponce Málaga, was commander of the Santa Cruz Departmental Police in 2021. He was born in Oruro and has a degree in Psychology, specializing in criminal investigation and forensic psychology, in addition to having a master’s degree in Security.
The change of the high military comes in the midst of scandals in the olive green institution after the murder of two sergeants and a volunteer police officer.
On the other hand, Aguilera was installed as Police Commander on November 16, 2020, when he still had the rank of colonel.
