Geneva Airport Strike Resolved: Updates on Dnata Staff Negotiations and Impact on Flights

2023-12-24 09:23:20

At Geneva airport, the strike started on Sunday morning by some Dnata staff will end at noon, according to information from the Tribune de Genève and 24 Heures. Employees accepted management’s proposals in the second part of the morning.

“Some of the employees of a service provider are on strike on Sunday, thus having an impact on our operations,” Geneva airport wrote earlier on his websiteapologizing for the “inconvenience suffered”.

In the end, the protest movement only lasted one morning, causing the delay of a few flights.

Difficult negotiations

Initially, discussions between management and the SSP union before the Chamber of Collective Labor Relations (CRCT) failed to reach an agreement. On Saturday, the “pressure” exerted by management – which threatened any strikers with immediate dismissal – had “produced the opposite effect. The employees’ rage will be expressed”, the union then indicated.

The threat of a strike had been brandished at the start of the week by the SSP union. On Thursday, Dnata offered staff a salary increase of 1.7% before increasing to 3% on Friday, according to Jamshid Pouranpir. The union demanded a 5% increase in salaries and the establishment of several bonuses linked to the arduousness of the work.

As of now, no details of the agreement reached have been officially communicated by the union and management.
