The chairman of the holding company Edmond de Rothschild succumbed to a heart attack on Friday at the family home of Pregny, in the canton of Geneva. He was 57 years old.
Baron Benjamin de Rothschild, president of the family holding Edmond de Rothschild Holding SA which oversees the Franco-Swiss financial group Edmond de Rothschild Group, died on Friday at the age of 57, his family told AFP on Saturday.
“Ariane de Rothschild and her daughters are extremely sad to announce the death of their husband and father, Benjamin de Rothschild following a heart attack at the family home of Pregny (GE) in the afternoon of January 15, 2021, ”the family said in a statement.
The Franco-Swiss group, headquartered in Geneva, specializes in private banking and asset management and has no connection with the Franco-British investment bank, Rothschild and Co. The value of assets managed by the group amounts to 173 billion Swiss francs (approximately 160 billion euros).
Benjamin de Rothschild had been at the head of the group since 1997 and the death of his father, Edmond de Rothschild. He was also the son of Baroness Nadine de Rothschild, 88, a former actress who became known in books for her defense of good manners and good manners.
Benjamin de Rothschild’s funeral will take place in the coming days in the strictest family privacy, his family said.
