Kalimantan Selatan’s Tourism Development Strategy

The Government of South Kalimantan Province (South Kalimantan) through the South Kalimantan Tourism Office (Dispar) recently hosted the 2025 Provincial Apparatus Forum, formally opening the forum. Head of Dispar South Kalimantan, Muhammad Syarifuddin, emphasized the forum’s importance in developing the tourism and creative economy sectors in the “Banua” region.

Strategic Planning for The Next Five Years

The primary objective of the forum was to discuss and gather input regarding the drafting of the 2025-2029 Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) and the Dispar South Kalimantan’s strategic plan. This plan will serve as a roadmap for the implementation of dispar south Kalimantan’s programs and activities over the next five years.

“Currently, we have six priority tourism destinations and an Economic Creativity Regulation (perda). Developing and implementing these will be a challenge for us in the future,” stated syarifuddin after the forum.

As the gateway to the new Indonesian capital city (IKN), the South Kalimantan Provincial Government, through Dispar, has undertaken improvements in various tourism sectors to boost tourist arrivals in the region. Syarifuddin highlighted the support received from several airlines that have opened direct flight routes to South Kalimantan, such as Bali-South Kalimantan, Lombok-South Kalimantan, and Pontianak-South Kalimantan. This development is anticipated to increase tourist visitation, positively impacting the tourism sector’s economic contribution in Banua.
