The release of Genshin Impact 4.0 was confirmed by HoYoverse through a live on YouTube. Version 4.0, called “An Unexpected Rain”, will arrive on August 16th. The main addition is the introduction of the fifth nation of Teyvat, Fontaine, known for its culture, art and technology. In addition, new game modes, playable characters and a diving mechanic will also be added.

According to HoYoverse, the new Fontaine region is located northeast of the Sumeru desert. Governed by Focalors, the Archon Hydro and Goddess of Justice, the fifth nation of Teyvat has important judgments that have turned into public events at the Epiclesis Opera, where magic, farce, and tragedy shows have also taken place, among other types of presentation. The new chapter of the Archon’s Quest will take place in this same location, where players will be able to witness a great magic show performed by Lyney and Lynette, in addition to participating in an ongoing trial.

Several quests in Fontaine will feature underwater adventures, as it is a region with a great abundance of water. When swimming, players will consume a type of “Underwater Stamina”. There, players will be able to collect “Resurrection Orbs” to recover Stamina. It will also be possible to increase the speed of your movements in water by swimming through the “Bubbles of Turbulence”.

In the underwater environment, there will be moments of combat that will require different techniques. In addition, players will be able to absorb skills from creatures of the seabed, in addition to breaking traps and reaching treasures trapped in seaweed.
Boss battles in Fontaine
Like every new region, Fontaine will feature bosses. The first challenge to be faced by players will be the “Cryozephyra Suite”, which is the result of Fontaine’s famous technology and mechanical art, featuring a pair of dancing Mecautomatoes. You can choose between two themes so that the duo fights to the beat of the music, but using great Cryo attacks inspired by figure skating.

Another boss to be faced in the water nation is the Armor Crab “Emperor of Fire and Iron”, which will deliver powerful Pyro attacks through its organs, in addition to having great defense skills.
New Playable Fontaine Characters Coming Soon
One of the new playable characters that will be released in update 4.0 will be Lyney, brother of Lynette and Freminet, known for being a great magician. He is a 5-star character capable of performing magic tricks using the Pyro element, as well as using a bow and even transforming into a Playful Cat in a Hat to launch fireworks in combat.

Lynette, who will also debut along with her brothers Lyney and Freminet, is a 4-star character who wields a sword and controls the element of anemo. Her ability allows her to quickly sneak up on enemies. Fortunately, according to HoYoverse, players with Adventure Rank Lv.25 will be able to obtain it for free through season events.

Finally, we have Freminet, an exceptional diver who is a four-star sword-wielding character. He specializes in utilizing Cryo and Physical attacks, through full pressure Tempo Pers.

But wait, Genshin Impact update 4.0 character news isn’t over yet. Yelan will be available in the first half of this release, while Zhongli and Tartaglia will return in the second half. Freminet will only be released in the second phase of the update.
New features and functions arrive with Genshin Impact 4.0 update
HoYoverse announced Global Illumination (GI) Support, Motion Sensor (Gyroscope) Support, and faster loading for PlayStation consoles. In addition, there will be some optimizations, including the Multilayer Map and the new scenarios of the team formation interface, which aims to provide more interesting details for the player.
