Georges Carnus: “Pelé did everything to become eternal”

It was a meeting he was not supposed to play, and which he still remembers, even following several decades. On April 22, 1963, George Carnus is the goalkeeper of the France team which hosts Brazil in Colombes. He was established by the coach at the time, Henri Guérin, following the injury of Pierre Bernard, the day before in training.

The AS Saint-Etienne goalkeeper was offered an unforgettable baptism of fire that day, since the Selection is carried by a Pelé in great shape. Fresh from his second world championship title the previous year, the Brazilian striker will score a hat-trick and offer victory to his team (3-2). Three goals that the former goalkeeper of the France team (36 caps) still has in mind. His video story.
