Georges-Louis Bouchez, president of the Reform Movement, was the guest of Christophe Deborsu and Luc Gilson in the RTL info Signatures this Wednesday. The opportunity to address several subjects ranging from tax reform to his autobiographical book.

But what caught Christophe Deborsu’s attention was this sentence that Georges-Louis Bouchez said during a recent interview with the Flemish press: “The CPAS give an income too quickly, many socialist communes organize leave for life”. According to official figures, the proportion of people receiving social integration income from the CPAS is higher in Wallonia. 46% of recipients are Walloon, 29% from Brussels and 25% Flemish. “I can say it because I come precisely from these circles, I have known, and I know on a daily basis. That is to say the truth”, Georges-Louis Bouchez defends himself.

And expands: “It’s not the people who are responsible, but when you live in cities where the CPAS does not activate, and where you are told that in the end it is better to receive an allowance because you earn better than working …” He then gives an example: “I come from a city where young people under the age of 25 who are not in school, well, 1 out of 2 does not have a job or activity, 1 out of 2!”, he hammers. Besides that, the TEC is looking for 300 drivers. “Don’t tell me that among these young people under 25, we can’t train some to have a bus driver’s license to go to work”, indignant Georges-Louis Bouchez.

He then recalls the employment rate in Mons which is 53%, “that means that 1 person out of 2 does not work!”.We cannot continue with complete neighborhoods where we keep people in welfare, these people are ready to have a better life, but we do not give them a perspective and we do not support them. There is a political fault which is major”, he explains.

Long-term patients are also more numerous in Wallonia with a rate of 14% against 9% for Flanders and Brussels. “There is a problem with the system where it is too easy to get a certificate. There are people who are really suffering but there are also complacency patients”, term-t-the.
