Georgia can turn the knife in Ohio State’s wound on the recruiting trail.

If Dylan Raiola signed with Georgia, Ohio State fans would be in for a shock.

After leaving Ohio State last month, 2024 five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola could be leaning toward Georgia now.

Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports made a prediction in a crystal ball late Tuesday morning that the top prospect of 2024 will commit to Georgia. It might only be a 6 out of 10 on the confidence scale, but Raiola might not go to a Big Ten team after all. The other team to watch is Nebraska, as his father Dominic Raiola is a former Cornhuskers star.

Georgia rarely gets a chance like this on the recruiting track. It would be so shocking for Raiola to go there.

Dylan Raiola’s departure to Georgia would make things even worse for Ohio State.

While Georgia already has a four-star quarterback signed to the Dawgs in 2024 in the person of Ryan Puglisi, keep in mind that the two-time defending national champions haven’t signed a quarterback in their class of 2023. is because Kirby Smart and his team put all their eggs in Arch Manning’s basket. It’s clear that college football’s last Manning would rather not return to play for Texas.

Although Georgia has signed five-star quarterbacks before, including Matthew Stafford, Jacob Eason and Justin Fields, the best quarterback to play for Smart is a former walk-on, the postman himself, Stetson Bennett IV. Bennett has exhausted his chances, so it will be up to Carson Beck, Brock Vandagriff and Gunner Stockton to fight through spring training and fall camp.

Beck probably has the upper hand to start next year. Vandagriff is the local product of nearby Bogart and a former five star himself. Whoever does not win the starting position at the end of the camp will probably be transferred. As for Stockton, he retains his four years of eligibility. His rise to the top of the depth chart as a former four-star isn’t as unlikely as Bennett’s.

Ultimately, top prospects like Raiola will always look for places where they think they can win a championship. Georgia and Ohio State are on the list of schools where this is a realistic possibility almost every season. Unfortunately for Buckeyes fans, they are very disappointed on Tuesday, as they were one point away from playing for a national championship.

If Raiola signed up with Georgia, it would be a real stab at starting the new year.
