Gerard Pique, the retired Barcelona star, confirmed that his club needed to win against Espanyol before thinking about celebrating the Spanish League title.
“You have to win first on Sunday,” Pique said. “I am very calm at the moment, but first you have to win.”
He added, “I don’t know how many leagues I own. I know it will be the 31st title, but I don’t know how many leagues.”
Xavi had invited Pique to celebrate with the Catalan club if the Spanish league title was decided in the special press conference for the Espanyol meeting: “We will tell him and invite him to celebrate if we win the title.”
It is worth noting that Barcelona needs only two points in order to win the Spanish League title, meaning that victory over Espanyol guarantees the team the championship.
