Berlin – The German economy grew surprisingly in the third quarter due to higher consumer spending. The gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.2 percent from July to September compared to the previous quarter, as the Federal Statistical Office announced on Wednesday in its first estimate. “Above all, government and private consumer spending increased,” it said. Germany is the most important export market for Austrian companies.
