German Finance Minister warns of stagflation risk

Today, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner warned of the danger of high inflation and low growth in the wake of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

In his statements during his participation in a conference in Berlin, Lindner said that “stagflation is a possible scenario.” He suggested that the best way to counteract price pressures might be to end previous support to boost the economy, and that Germany and Europe should return to fiscal discipline.
