The German Fresenius, owner of Quirónsalud, has hired the services of the US investment bank Goldman Sachs for the sale of its operations in Latin America, where it has important assets in Colombia and Peru. In the latter, it has 50% ownership of the Ricardo Palma Clinic.

Valuation of assets for sale

The properties in Colombia (where it has a network of eight establishments) and Peru are valued at around US$1.089 billion, with an Ebitda of around US$98 million, according to the Spanish portal El Economista.

Likewise, the firm Deloitte is in charge of the vendor due diligence: an evaluation carried out by an independent firm, at the request of the seller, to examine the financial situation of the company and its business.

The sales notebook would be launched throughout July. Although El Economista’s sources indicate that there is no established calendar for receiving the first offers, the seller’s intention is to close the transaction before the end of the year.

Interested in buying the assets

Until now, industrial groups and international private equity funds, especially from the United States, have already been interested in the purchase. Among them are the American giant Blackstone and Advent International; Hospitales Ángeles, a Mexican medical empire with 28 hospital centers and a leader in its country.

The sale decided by Fresenius is related to its divestment plan to reduce its debt, simplify its corporate structure and boost its listing, following the roadmap outlined by the Elliott activist fund.
