The time was unusual, as was the performance. The German Family Minister Anne Spiegel (Greens) invited to her press conference on Sunday at 9 p.m. Visibly battered and hesitant, the 41-year-old explained: “I’m taking an unusual step now, I’ll tell you some private details now.” Then she says that her husband had a stroke in 2019 and that her family (four children) found the pandemic an “insane challenge”. That’s why they went on vacation in France for four weeks in the summer of 2021 – “because my husband mightn’t do it anymore”.
