The DFB team made their last trip to the USA in May and June 2013 with Flick as assistant to national coach Joachim Löw, playing games against Ecuador (4:2) and the USA (3:4).
The DFB also announced that Germany will play Japan in Wolfsburg on September 9th and France in Dortmund on September 12th.
National coach Hansi Flick: “For me, the games against Japan and France are very special highlights in our preparation plan for the European Championships in our own country.”
And further: “Afterwards we will meet a World Cup host, the USA, who is highly motivated in preparation for the home tournament. This game is a very appealing challenge in terms of sport and atmosphere.”
DFB sporting director Rudi Völler: “After the two very interesting home games against France and Japan, it is important to be present on site, to hold talks and make contacts, with a view to the upcoming World Cup. Even if we are all looking forward to our home European Championship next year, which is the focus of all our planning, it is part of professional preparation to tackle the following tournament at an early stage in order to create optimal conditions there as well.”
