Germany condemns Dohuk attack in northern Iraq

Germany on Thursday condemned the attack in the Zakho district of Dohuk governorate in northern Iraq, where eight civilians were killed and 23 others injured.

In a statement, the German Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the need to protect civilians, expressing its condolences to the families of the victims.

On Wednesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, assuring that Türkiye is not responsible for this attack which claimed the lives of civilians in Dohuk, in northern Iraq.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry stressed that such attacks, which come from the PKK terrorist organization, target Ankara’s firm stance in its fight against terrorism.

Türkiye also called on Iraqi government officials not to make statements on Wednesday’s attack in Dohuk province “under the influence of the rhetoric and propaganda” of the terrorist organization PKK.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry also offered its condolences to the families of the eight people who, according to preliminary information, lost their lives in this attack.

Yesterday, Turkish security sources said the attack was carried out by PKK terrorists.
