Germany launches investigation into high-level military communications suspected to have been eavesdropped by Russia

CDU defense politician Roderich Kiesewetter warned that more conversations could come to light. In an interview with a German news program, he said: “There must have been other conversations that were monitored and may be exposed in the future when it is beneficial to Russia.” He said: “It can be considered that Russia deliberately leaked the content of the conversation at this time with special intentions .” This purpose can only be to “prevent Germany from providing Taurus missiles.”

German Chancellor Scholz (Social Democratic Party) announced a “rapid” investigation into the matter. He said: “What is being reported is a very serious matter. So we will investigate this matter very carefully, very deeply and very quickly, as necessary.” Earlier this week,He once explained in detail the reasons for refusing to provide “Taurus” missiles to Ukraine. For a long time, Ukraine has been urging Germany to provide “Taurus” missiles. This kind of missile is launched in the air by a fighter jet, and the missile’s own jet braking system allows it to have a range of more than 500 kilometers, and the explosion has strong penetrating power. Ukraine stated that they hope to obtain such missiles in order to destroy logistics support systems, ammunition depots and military bases in Russian-occupied areas. Although there are many politicians in the ruling coalition who support the provision of Taurus missiles to Ukraine, German Chancellor Scholz made this decision against all odds.
