Germany: MREs protest in front of the Bremen parliament, which raised the “flag” of the Polisario

MRE defenders of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom set up this Sunday, February 27, 2022 a stand in front of the regional parliament of Bremen, in protest against the decision of the regional parliamentarians to hoist the “flag” of the polisario.

Several MREs, including Sahrawis attached to the territorial integrity of Morocco, protested, this Sunday, February 27, 2022, against a decision by the regional parliament of the city of Bremen, in northern Germany, to raise the ” flag” of the separatists of the Polisario front, on the occasion of the commemoration of the anniversary of the proclamation of the pseudo-“rasd”.

The protesters set up a stand in front of the seat of the Bremen regional parliament, to express their complete rejection of this decision and to defend the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

The Bremen parliament, reputed to be close to the separatists and their theses, had already committed a similar act in the past. Almost a year ago to the day, this same parliament had hoisted the “flag” of the separatists in front of the seat of the regional parliament.

This new provocation by the Bremen parliament comes as bilateral relations between Morocco and Germany are warming up, after a freeze that lasted nearly a year.

This easing was made possible following positive announcements and constructive positions recently formulated by the new German federal government.

On Wednesday January 5, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier sent an invitation to a “State visit to Germany” to King Mohammed VI, in order to “seal a new partnership between the two countries”. Regarding the question of the Moroccan Sahara, Frank-Walter Steinmeier stressed in his message that Germany “considers the autonomy plan presented in 2007 as a serious and credible effort by Morocco and as a good basis for reaching an agreement” to this regional dispute.

On February 16, the head of Moroccan diplomacy, Nasser Bourita, and the new German foreign minister, Annalena Baerbock, had their first meeting, by videoconference.

During this meeting, the two leaders agreed to “reconnect with the special quality of bilateral relations in all areas, in the spirit of proven policies, coherence and mutual respect”.

The two ministers underlined their great mutual interest in “close and friendly relations between the two countries” and agreed to start a new dialogue in order to “overcome misunderstandings in their relations and deepen their multifaceted bilateral relations”. . The German minister welcomed, in this respect, the return of the King’s ambassador to Berlin and stressed that the new ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany should arrive in Morocco soon.
