Berlin – The German Federal Police began stationary border controls at the German borders in the east on Monday. In the federal states of Brandenburg and Saxony, fixed controls started on Monday evening. After much hesitation, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser had previously notified the EU Commission of stationary controls at the borders with Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
