Germany’s Increased Military Presence in Lithuania: Reinforcing NATO’s Eastern Flank

Germany is ready to station some 4,000 soldiers in Lithuania, once morest 850 currently, to reinforce NATO’s eastern flank, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced on Monday 26 June.

“Germany is ready to permanently deploy a robust brigade in Lithuania,” Mr. Pistorius said in Vilnius, according to a recording transmitted by his ministry. The prerequisites for this deployment are “the corresponding infrastructure” on site as well as “compatibility with NATO plans”, he said, writes AFP.
