Nearly 1.6 million viewers fell in love, on average every Sunday evening, with the campy adventurers of season 1. Adventure reality TV Get me out of here! is back for a second season that promises to be even more surprising, wet, wild and frightening than the first. The newspaper spoke with four of the nine campers: the facilitators Patricia Paquin and Clodine Desrochers, the comedian Philippe Laprise and the actress Audrey Roger.

Why did you say yes to this experience?

Patricia “I was called relatively early in the process and the Season 1 shows hadn’t started yet, so I didn’t really know what I was getting into initially. And the more the shows progress, the more you say to yourself: ah OK, that’s what I said yes to.”

Clodine: “I was approached in April so I had time to see part of season 1 and I was thinking to myself: what would I say if someone called me. When I got the call: it was a mixture of excitement and thinking: is it true that I’m going to say yes. I was afraid of myself. Ultimately, I found it to be a unique opportunity to experience something that I will never experience again in my life and the thrill to let go. I had to think about it for a few days. And since I hadn’t been seen on TV for a long time, I was even more surprised that someone contacted me.”

Audrey: “I had time to watch a few episodes and the first thing that went through my mind was: ah, lucky people, I would really like to do that too. It’s not the kind of thing I would apply to, but it would fall into my lap. I had no choice but to say yes.”

Philippe: “I wrote an email to participate at the same time they wrote me to participate. I felt like I had reached this point in my life: challenger in something I never would have thought of. Everyone thinks I’m the princess who loves beautiful hotels, but I wanted to challenge myself in a game which was not social, without clan or enemies.”

Biggest fear overcome? Your biggest fear?

Philippe: “For me, it’s the heights. I made it through the heights and I’m glad I did. But honestly, everything was scary. There is nothing pleasant about having a tarantula or a snake on you, or a crab in your pockets (laughs).»

Patricia: “I think most of us didn’t fear camp life. On the other hand, indeed, there were some who did not want to eat animals and some had very specific phobias, like Audrey.

Audrey: “Yes, I am basically very trypophobic; everything related to holes, warts, clusters of holes. Like the toads, for me it’s really not possible. But I’ve seen some very close.”

Patricia: “I don’t like bugs that much, but I was kind of focused on the fact that they would be around me in a static position. I had done some visualization, but I hadn’t visualized water around me and that they would be this invasive. I wasn’t prepared for that.” (*Without saying too much, know that Patricia Paquin faces a particularly distressing challenge when she enters the game.)

Philippe: “It impressed me to see that we all went through this kind of funnel that allows us to face our fears and realize that we have more skills than we think.”

Do you forget the camera when you’re so scared?

Patricia: “Yes! As soon as you have your foot in the adventure, in the minute, in the second, you have an instant letting go.”

Philippe: “We always have a way out too, saying: Get me out of here! It has been used a few times, but rarely. I reached my limits a few times where I had to say: OK, here, I am at my limit. The team is also very respectful.”

Your most memorable moment?

Audrey: “For me, it was a challenge with Phil, Alex [Perron] and Rosalie [Vaillancourt]. This is the moment where we laughed the most of the whole adventure. We had a lot of fun, we played clowns, it’s going to be a good one show.»

Clodine: “There was a notable moment when I collapsed with fatigue. I was in such a psychological state… Watching season 1, I found them intense, but I understood. I understand the mental state.”

Philippe: “There were some nice highlights. We lived with nature, there were mornings when we woke up with howler monkeys above us. They are screaming so loud!”

Patricia: “Really! So when you fall asleep in the evening, from exhaustion, it’s unsettling: the humidity, the noises, the mud, the mosquitoes, it’s impressive. Discomfort too, the camp was very dry. I was looking for places to sit.”

Have you thought about giving up along the way?

Audrey: “For me, it’s every day. Every day I said to myself: what am I still doing here? I just want to go home! But my mind was stronger, I was not able to give up. »

Clodine: “I think we’ve all thought about it. There, a day is worth much more than a day. No matter how many days you spent in the jungle, when you come back it feels like it’s been weeks. It’s really special.”

Patricia: “I remember saying to Alex: I could go out tonight and it wouldn’t bother me, and Alex saying to me: me too! (laughs)»

Have new friendships been formed at camp?

Patricia: “Rosalie, Dave and Audrey made a nice little trio.”

Audrey: “Yes, we got along really well!”

The person who surprised you the most?

Philippe: “Clodine surprised me a lot. With the show Clodine’s seasonsshe did business in a very gentle way, all fun, but there, seeing her in there, I said to myself: wow!”

Audrey: “Me, it’s Alex [Perron] which surprised me so much. He had balls!”

Clodine: “Yes, he was capable of taking it! He was infatuated with greatness and he never complained. He’s calm, he’s like Mr. Miyagi.”

The animals you saw there?

Philippe: “We would get up in the morning and sometimes there would be tarantulas in our beds.”

Clodine: “Big cockroaches! All the elimination challenges, you find yourself confronted with bugs and there are also some in the challenges. You don’t have a choice, there are always. We had a path of red ants too. There were also some at night when we had to go to the toilet and the ranger had to walk with us.”

Philippe: “At one point I was in an interview in the jungle and I heard bing bang, I turned around and it was a long green snake that had fallen from the tree right next to me. That’s when I realized they were the same color as the jungle!”

Your greatest pride?

Patricia: “Exceeding. I’m happy to have had this experience.”

Clodine: “Totally. I’m glad I accepted that I had no control over anything from the moment I got there. To agree to say: that’s it, I let myself go in a hostile climate and place, that’s a victory in itself.”

Philippe: “It made me want to travel backpacking, like my girlfriend has wanted to do for a long time. I realized I could do it. All-inclusive no longer interests me.”

What were you most bored of?

“The shower, clean pants, smelling good, a comfortable chair, a clean toilet, not wet underwear!” they say.

What were the causes chosen by each of you?

Audrey: «La Maison d’Haïti, for the integration and education of Haitian families in Quebec.”

Philippe: «The Philippe Laprise Complètement ADHD foundation, for people living with ADHD and their families.”

Clodine: «A stone’s throw from success, a foundation located in the Lanaudière region to help primary school children have school bags, school materials and tutoring.”

Patricia: «The Benny & Co foundation, which offers respite to families who live with different children.”
