Sheraldo Becker made the switch to Bundesliga club FC Union Berlin last summer. The fast striker was often in the starting phase of the season, but had to do it just before the ‘corona stop’ with a place on the bench.
The Bundesliga has stopped due to the corona virus, but at Union Berlin the players will return to the training field on April 6. “We are going to train in groups of three,” says Becker in conversation with FOX Sports. An adapted form of training. Financially, Becker and his teammates have already submitted. “It is difficult because we are not a big club. We still get a salary, seventy to eighty percent.”
In his first period in Germany it took some getting used to for Becker, but now he feels at home there. “Of course I miss the Netherlands. Everything took some getting used to. The language, the system, the training,” he continues. The food is also different with our eastern neighbors. “Lots of pickle, bratwurst and currywurst, haha.”
The attacker usually sat on the bench in the last games of Union Berlin, but does not let his head hang. “I am confident, I show what I can do during training. Every team needs a boy with a lot of speed,” he concludes.
