Geules noirs: Screening of Event Film at the Arenberg Mining Site with Director Mathieu Turi – Tuesday, November 21

This Tuesday, November 21, the Leaud room at the Arenberg mining site in Wallers is screening the event film “Geules noirs”. A time for discussions is also planned with the director Mathieu Turi.

The film Miners by Mathieu Turi, was filmed in part, in 2022, on the Arenberg mining site. He has already received quite a few awards at the Angoulême festival, particularly last April. And be careful, it’s not Germinal. This film is classified in the adventure and fantasy genre.

Horror deep down

Its story takes place in the north of France in 1956. Underground miners have the task of leading a scientist a thousand meters underground so that he can take samples. Unfortunately, a landslide at the bottom prevents them from coming back up. Stuck in the depths of the mine, they discover a crypt from another age and unknowingly awaken a legendary creature thirsty for blood. A film starring Samuel Le Bihan, Amir El Kacem, Thomas Solivérès, Jean-Hugues Anglade, Marc Riso, Philippe Torreton, Diego Martin and Bruno Sanches.

A meeting with Mathieu Turi and Marc Riso is planned after the screening. Mathieu Turi is a young French director, assistant director to Quentin Tarantino for Inglorious Basterds and Luc Besson for Lucy in others. He realised Hostile in 2017 and Meander in 2020.

The program

Meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, in the hall for an exhibition by Florent Grosnom, still photographer, with photos from the film. At 8 p.m., introduction by the film team (Mathieu Turi, the director and Marc Riso, one of the actors). The screening will begin at 8:15 p.m. The end of the film is scheduled for 10 p.m., followed by a debate with the public.
