Ghent crushes Bruges and will face Anderlecht or Eupen in the Cup final

After a first leg won 0-1 at La Gantoise, Club Brugge lost 0-3 in the second leg of the first semi-final of the Belgian Cup. The Gantois therefore pocket their ticket for the final thanks to goals from Odjidja (2nd), Castro-Montes (35th) and Depoitre (54th). From the 2nd minute, Vadis Odjidja took advantage of a ball pushed back by the Bruges defense towards the entrance to the area to unleash a volley which ended in the back of Mignolet’s net via an unfortunate deflection from Nsoki (0-1 , 2nd). In response, Roef offered a ball in the area to Vanaken, but the captain of Bruges was unable to convert the opportunity and only obtained a corner (15th).

After the half-hour, the hesitant Bruges recovery following a strike from Jonathan De Sart offered a second opportunity to Castro-Montes who managed to overcome Simon Mignolet with a coiled and lobbed send from 16 meters (0- 2, 35e). The Bruges goalkeeper was glued to his line, a few minutes later, on a header from Depoitre, but the post came to his rescue (39th).

Like the first, the second period started in a catastrophic way for Bruges, with the exclusion of Denis Odoi for a second yellow card (52nd). In the process, Depoitre dealt the fatal blow to the people of Bruges, with an unbalanced header following a center from Samoise (0-3, 54th).

Despite the Bruges reshuffle, La Gantoise remained completely in control. The Buffalos also passed not far from a fourth goal, when Tissoudali missed the target during a duel with Mignolet (63rd). The final half-hour was choppy and nervous, marked by declining quality of play in favor of rough exchanges, but it saw no change in scoring despite a dangerous last attempt from Nurio and a free-kick de Lang (90th + 3).

The Gantoise will therefore face Anderlecht or Eupen, who face each other on Thursday evening. In the first leg, the two teams had left with the score of 2-2.
