Giants fall to Diamondbacks and are officially out

Sergio Alcántara hit a pair of doubles for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who beat the San Francisco Giants 8-4 on Saturday, now mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Christian Walker went 3-for-5 with an RBI double, coming within a home run of completing the cycle for Arizona.

Josh Rojas added two RBIs while Cooper Hummel hit a sacrifice fly for Arizona. Jordan Luplow totaled three hits.

JD Davis and Mike Yastrzemski homered for San Francisco, which however had its five-game winning streak snapped. The Giants have won 10 of their last 12 games.

Drey Jameson (3-0) won for the third time in his fourth career start, allowing two runs on six hits in six innings. The right-hander dished out seven strikeouts and a couple of walks.

Jakob Junis (5-7) pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, to take the loss. He struck out four opponents and walked a pair.

For the Diamondbacks, the Dominicans Geraldo Perdomo 1-0, Sergio Alcántara 4-2 with four RBIs.

For the Giants, Venezuelan Thairo Estrada 4-1 with an RBI.
