Gino Bogani joined fourteen of his muses and Juana Viale for his 60 years with fashion

The Haute Couture Week cycle organized by Elina Costantini brought together Adrián Brown, Laurencio Adot and Evangelina Bomparola in their respective fashion shows, and closed with a tribute to Gino Bogani’s sixty years with Argentine fashion.

As happened with the three previous parades, the location was different: the entrance hall of the Museum of Latin American Art in Buenos Aires, which covered a large part of its entrance façade with a “upholstery” of natural vegetation and, crossing the doors, a wall darkness turned that place into a totally different space.

Juana Viale dressed as a wedding by Gino Bogani for the closing of the Haute Couture Week 2022 fashion show.

In the stalls, the first rows were occupied by several of its historical clients and also by daughters, daughters-in-law and even some granddaughter. Several of them gave Bogani their designs from their own wardrobes so that he can represent a complete visual tour of his career.

Even Susana Giménez – absent with notice – ceded a transparent green tunic with embroidery details that she used in El rey de los exhortos, a picaresque comedy directed by Hugo Sofovich in 1979 and in which she starred with Alberto Olmedo. In that film, Susana only wore clothes by Gino Bogani. Mirtha Legrand and Marcela Tinayre were also in the front row because Juana Viale was one of those called for the parade, although only when she appeared on the scene did they know what Bogani had chosen for her.

Sitting next to Mirtha were the Italian ambassadors, Fabrizio Lucentini and his wife Daniel Simoncelli, Eduardo Costantini, Jorge Telerman, Santiago and Eva Soldati, Luis Ovsejevich, Fini Travers, María Elisa Mitre, Josefina Carlés, Charlie Blaquier, Martín Cabrales, among others.

to scene Once all the guests were located, the 79 summoned models began to descend from the Malba escalator.

Of that extremely large group on an Argentine catwalk that presents a seasonal collection, there were fourteen of those who were his muses throughout Bogani’s career. For this reason, in the backstage space –located where Malba has some exhibition halls– there was a separate party, an atmosphere of reunion as if former students of a school would meet again many years later. And all of them, he made them walk the catwalk mounted for his tribute more than once.

This is how Teté Coustarot, Laura Ocampo, Teresa Garbesi, Roxana Zarecki, Salette, Ada Maso, Mora Furtado, Andrea Frigerio, Nequi Galotti, Carmen Yasalde, Fernanda Villaverde, Mónica Labari, Delfina Frers, and of course Mariana Arias dressed their exclusive designs again . And among the remaining sixty-five models, in addition to Juana Viale, Juana Tinelli, the driver’s youngest daughter, and Paula Robles, who participated in all the fashion shows in this haute couture edition.

Applause and party. The excitement that Bogani’s muses had especially backstage, they transferred in the successive passes they made. In turn, all of them manifested as models of another generation that they were having fun “on stage” and above all, safe because finally, they have in their history walked several kilometers on runways for Bogani and other Argentine designers. For obvious reasons, whether or not they used them at the time, they were used to everything that parading implies for him, who always put together proposals where everything carried his signature and stamp. That is, the garment itself and all the accessories: shoes, hats, jewelry and others. All that return to the scene was rewarded with applause every time one of the fourteen muses stepped onto the catwalk.

The surprise. The music began to mark the end of the parade and Mirtha Legrand and Marcela Tinayre were still waiting because Juana Viale did not appear. Until finally and to the surprise of both, Bogani had chosen her to close and nothing less than a wedding dress as was done until a few years ago in almost all the parades in the world.

It will be because Mirtha’s granddaughter never married in white or because of the exaltation that marked the end of the parade, but both she and Marcela Tinayre were literally moved to tears. With her walking happily in her wedding dress, she was followed by the rest of the models who surrounded and applauded Bogani.
