Giorgos Karabetsos is again a candidate for president of EOPE! – 2024-04-05 15:58:39

On the occasion of the two successful events of the final-4 of the Greek Volleyball Cups in Loutraki (for women) and in Larissa (for men) and on the occasion of World Sports Day on April 6, the president of EOPE Giorgos Karabetsos made the following statement:

“I thank from the bottom of my heart the members of the management of EOPE, the workers of the federation, my partners and of course the mayors of Loutraki and Larissa, the management and the workers of ERT S.A. for the perfect collaboration we had so that this wonderful result came out.

The full stadiums and the high viewership prove that Greek volleyball is constantly on the rise, constantly gaining new friends. Above all, I would like to thank the players of the clubs from all over Greece for their positive comments and moral support, as well as their great contribution to the sport through their daily and tireless engagement with the clubs and the sports bodies.

I want to assure them that since 2016 when I took over the federation, being on the brink of financial disaster and dissolution, we have achieved a feat together. Financial consolidation, reorganization, reforms, modernization, raising the competitive level at the collective level and establishing the National teams in the elite of European volleyball. True to what I promised as president of the Board of Directors, I pledge that I will be a candidate for the elections that will be held in EOPE in September 2024.

I will ask for a vote of confidence from the people who, without blinkers and selfishness, recognize the great changes that have taken place in the sport. They are aware of the sacrifices made for the consolidation of finances, especially in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic and the energy crisis.

For all of them, for all the pure volleyball friends, I will always be by their side and always on the front line to solve problems and chart together the course of Greek volleyball until 2028.”
