Miguel Ángel López was involved in a fall during the first stages of the fourth stage. Simon Yates, winner on Saturday in the time trial, was also involved in that hookup, who requested a medical car.
Battle of Etna runs out
The cycling squad that makes up the Giro d’Italia took advantage of this Monday, on the first day of rest, to set course from Hungary to Sicily, where the fourth stage is held on Tuesday with the demanding ascent of Etna.
This is the first of the two stages of the Giro d’Italia 2022 that Sicily hosts, which will also host a day on Wednesday 11 with a start in Catania and a finish in Messina, ideal for sprinters. The first three stages of the Giro have been held in Hungary and after them the leader of the general classification is the Dutchman Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin Fenix), with 11 seconds ahead of the British Simon Yates (BikeExchange).
