GISMETEO: Surveys show that driver assistance systems confuse people – Auto

Due to the fact that modern cars are equipped with active safety systems and driver assistance (ADAS), they are much safer than before. However, the American edition Consumer Reports conducted a survey, the results of which demonstrated that more and more sophisticated assistants that have many buttons and warnings on the displays easily confuse drivers.

It is noted that drivers often simply decide to turn off these types of systems, which they do not have the opportunity to understand, because of which they lose all the possible benefits that they provide. The survey was conducted by the American edition in 2021, and a total of 35,000 respondents took part in it. At the same time, accurate data CR does not cite, but claims that most are confused by the increasing complexity of automotive electronics.

So, according to the results of the survey, the publication decided to draw up a special guide that should help automakers create vehicles in which such systems would be “easy to understand”. AT CR recommend making a number of systems configurable and allowing drivers to turn them off individually to avoid annoying them.

In addition, brands should put more effort into explaining to potential car owners how their systems work. The publication also called for the standardization of terminology. ADASso that drivers can quickly understand the purpose of certain systems.
