Gladbach: Daniel Farke sets up new cabin rules at Borussia

Daniel Farke at his introductory press conference as the new Gladbach coach on June 5, 2022 in Borussia Park.

New coach, clear message: A different wind will blow in the Gladbach cabin from June 26, 2022. Then it’s the start of training for the pros. And coach Daniel Farke (45) has already announced the first new group rules. The so-called “French Connection” in Borussia-Park shouldn’t like this at all.

Why is? The fact that Gladbach had a messed-up season and missed the season’s goal of the European Cup for the second time in a row was also due to Farke’s predecessor Adi Hütter (52) couldn’t get the formation of small groups in the dressing room under control.

Some players had even complained about this publicly.

Gladbach: Coach Farke announces new language rules for professionals

And it’s no secret that especially the French-speaking players like Marcus Thuram (24), Alassane Plea (29), Manu Koné (21), Mamadou Doucouré (24), all French, the Swiss Breel Embolo (25) and Ramy Bensebaini (27/Algeria) is only too happy to contribute her own cabin soup Borussia Monchengladbach have cooked.

Especially since the “integration officer”, wing racer Ibrahima Traore (34), left the foal stable on July 1, 2021.

That should be under Daniel Farke stop. For this, the Gladbach coach introduces a clear language rule in the Borussia cabin.

Farke: “In general, it’s like this: We’re a German club. And that’s why it’s also important to speak German in the dressing room. I also heard that the guys are working hard on it.”

Farke, who coached English club Norwich City from 2017 to 2021, continues: “(…) I think it’s important to commit to a club. I did it that way in England too. We had a lot of German players when I started at Norwich, but not a word of German was allowed in the dressing room. And of course we have adapted.”

Means: The only official language in the Gladbach cabin is now German. Plea, Thuram, Bensebaini and Co will have to get used to that under Farke.

The fact that only the national language is spoken in professional dressing rooms is a matter of course for numerous teams in other top European leagues. Clubs in Spain, England and Italy in particular usually attach great importance to this.

Now also in Borussia-Park. Under Farke, a language is spoken in the foal cabin in the spirit of the team spirit.

As of now, the following nationalities are represented in the Gladbach professional squad: 13 Germans, three Swiss, four French, one Algerian, one Austrian, one American, one Irishman, one Englishman and one Slovak.
