Global PC shipments fell by 9 percent in the third quarter of this year, reaching what market research company Gartner analysts expect to be the low point of the market’s two-year decline.

Apple witnessed the largest decline among the major companies that manufacture computers, as shipments decreased compared to the same quarter of the previous year by 24 percent.

This is partly because its shipment volume increased significantly in the third quarter of 2022 once supply disruptions eased earlier in 2022 due to China’s lockdown.

Apple’s shipments in the third quarter of 2023 followed seasonal trends, driven primarily by demand from students and teachers.

Lenovo maintained its first position with a 25 percent share of the global market.

Dell recorded a decline in shipments for the sixth consecutive quarter, affected by weak demand for enterprise computers due to its strong presence in that market.

Total global shipments reached 64.3 million units in the third quarter of 2023, a decrease of 9 percent from the third quarter of 2022 when shipments reached 70.6 million.

These results represent the eighth consecutive quarter of decline for global shipments, and Gartner expects, starting from the last quarter of this year, that global shipments will witness growth again, as it estimates growth for 2024 to rise by 4.9 percent, with growth expected in the business and consumer sectors.
