The broadcaster filed four lawsuits against platforms that sell signals from channels such as GloboNews and Premiere, as well as the 24-hour signal of the Big Brother Brasil program. Globo sues pirated IPTV platforms

IPTV platforms sell access to pay TV channels 24 hours a day, including some Globo channels, for a lower price than cable TV operators offer. Customers can access these channels through apps or websites without the need for additional equipment.

One of the platforms involved in the process is Flix TV HD, which sold around 1,500 channels for R$35 per month. In addition to the channels, Premiere and BBB’s pay-per-view channels were also involved, as well as the group’s channels, such as SporTV and GloboNews.

The case was taken to the 2nd Regional Court of Business Competence and Conflicts Related to Arbitration of the Court of Justice of São Paulo. Globo alleges that platforms are using its signals without a license and at a below-market price. The broadcaster happily got an injunction to ban sales and take down Flix TV HD websites.

In the other three lawsuits, Globo won one of them against the website Control IPTVwhich offered services similar to Flix TV HD.
