God of War: Amazon Reportedly in Negotiations to Adapt the Franchise for TV

After Fallout and (possibly) Mass EffectAmazon is now preparing to adapt God of War for television, learned Deadline.

According to US media sources, the group’s on-demand broadcasting arm, Prime Video, is in negotiations to bring Sony’s popular franchise to the small screen.

Still according to information from Deadline, the creators of the series The ExpanseMark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, as well as the author-director of Wheel of TimeRafe Judkins, could be involved in this television adaptation of God of War.

If these rumors prove to be true and, above all, if they come to fruition, the franchise developed by Santa Monica Studio would notably join Twisted Metalon the Peacock side, and The Last of Usat HBO, in the radius of the intellectual properties of PlayStation soon to be brought to television.

That said, it should be noted that, when contacted by Deadline, Amazon and Sony did not want to comment on the echoes of the specialized publication.

Remember that in May 2021, Sony had claimed in a report by New York Times not planning to adapt the adventures of Kratos to the small or big screen in the near future, thus denying the rumors that were floating on the Web at the time. We will therefore have to see if, once again, this is a false alarm… or if the Japanese giant has simply changed its mind in the meantime.

As for the franchise’s next installment on console, God of War Ragnarök, PlayStation has retired earlier this year that the game was still slated for release on PS4 and PS5 in 2022.
