Gokulam Kerala FC has acquired Spanish striker Alex Sanchez. Signed a one-year contract with the star. Sanchez, who was born without his right hand, is the only player with a disability to play in LaLiga, Spain’s premier football league.
The 34-year-old represented Real Zaragoza in La Liga and played for various clubs including CD Tudelano, CD Teruel, CA Osasuna Promesas, Utebo FC and CA Osasuna. He has made 127 appearances in the Spanish third tier, scoring 42 goals. Last season, he netted 13 times in 33 appearances for SD Agia.
“It is a great pleasure to welcome Alex Sanchez to our ranks. His presence will strengthen the team. “Alex is not only an incredibly talented player but an epitome of perseverance and determination and an inspiration to other players,” Gokulam FC said.
Alex Sanchez will join other foreign recruits Spanish midfielder Nili Perdormo and Cameroonian defender Aminou Bouba in the pre-season camp for the Durand Cup in Kolkata. As the third foreigner to join GKFC this season, Alex’s exceptional skills and determination will further strengthen the team’s preparations under new Spanish coach Domingo Oramas.
