Mark Stone suffers from an upper body injury that will force him to miss a few weeks of play.
The Vegas Golden Knights forward was injured in the first period of Thursday’s game against the Florida Panthers.
He didn’t practice Friday and head coach Bruce Cassidy said he won’t face the Edmonton Oilers at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday (10 p.m. ET; CBC, SN, CITY, TVAS2 , ATTSN-RM, ESPN+, SN NOW).
“He was (at the training center) this morning and he had to do some more tests,” Cassidy said. He won’t play tomorrow. His absence will be counted in weeks, and we will reassess the situation when he is back on the ice. »
Stone is the Golden Knights’ second-leading scorer with 38 points in 43 games.

Last year, Stone was limited to 37 games due to various injuries. Among other things, he had missed 26 meetings from February to April. Vegas went 12-13-1 without its captain, who finally returned to action with eight games left in the season. It wasn’t enough, and the Golden Knights missed the playoffs for the first time in club history.
He had back surgery on May 19.
Cassidy wouldn’t say if Stone had a back injury.
