After a meeting with the Superintendent of Colombian Companies, Billy Escobar, the Venezuelan ambassador to that country, Félix Plasencia, announced that the government of Nicolás Maduro had regained control of Monómeros.
This after Escobar affirmed that it is “valid” that a new board of directors of the petrochemical company be appointed. This is what he said in an interview with Telesur this Monday night.
A document was signed in which it is assumed that Maduro now has control of the company.
“We ratify the will of the Venezuelan Government to appoint a board of directors, and that corresponds to the legality that is handled in the Colombian State in relation to the owners of a company that have the possibility of choosing their directives,” Escobar said.
In addition, he emphasized that “we are making a legal recognition of that situation. We are validating a decision of the owners of Monomers”, he emphasized.

Also in a Telesur broadcast, Plasencia declared “all that evil, mistaken, aggressive construction, which affected the interests of the Venezuelan people and the Colombian people, ends.”
Plasencia pointed out that there is “a moment of joy, of happiness” because it is “a company that belongs to the people of Venezuela and returns to the power of the people of Venezuela.”
“The natural and legal course of the law, of order, of duty, is imposed, which means that we put an end to the interventionist, treacherous, scoundrel, irresponsible claim, which has done so much damage in recent years,” he said.
