Nouna attack: The government reports missing detainees
Ouagadougou, May 8, 2022 (AIB) – The Burkinabè government on Sunday reported missing detainees and material damage but clarified that there was no loss of life or injuries during the attack in Nouna overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
According to a government press release sent to the AIB this Sunday, “on the night of Saturday May 7 to Sunday May 8, 2022, the Nouna Remand and Correctional Center in the province of Kossi was the target of an attack by unidentified gunmen.”
The statement signed by the Communication and Press Relations Department informs that “the assessment of the attack, in the early hours, reported missing detainees and material damage” and specifies that “no loss of human life or of injuries, have not been recorded.
The press release indicates that “the elements of the Penitentiary Security Guard, in collaboration with the other Defense and Security Forces, are hard at work to search for the missing detainees and secure the premises”.
