The junta in Mali on Saturday carried out a partial reshuffle of the government the day following the announcement of the withdrawal of the UN mission in the country and eight days following the favorable result of a referendum on the draft new Constitution. The heavyweights of the regime who occupy strategic positions such as the Ministry of Defence, Foreign Affairs or Justice, are reappointed, but the government is heavily reshuffled with 16 appointments, 13 new ministers and three who rotate. An emblematic representative of the Coordination of Movements of Azawad (CMA), the main alliance of former rebels in the north, is also leaving the government, while tensions are high between the two parties.
