The governor of Antioquia, Aníbal Gaviria, rejected the administrative intervention launched this Friday Health Superintendency against EPS Sap Health and anticipated that it will file all the legal resources necessary to reverse that decision.
Accused that the departmental administration found out about the measure through the media and that it has not yet been officially notified of it, the governor pointed out to the Supersalud of not telling the truth y to be unaware of the work that that insurer has been doing to get out of its crisis.
“It is a measure that surprises us, we consider it arbitrary, unfair and inopportune, because it is contrary to the very objectives that it claims to seek”, expressed Gaviria Correa, criticizing the timing and the justification for the intervention.
Regarding the deadlines, the regional president pointed out that it occurred almost a month and a half before the expiration of the last extension of the special surveillance measure that covered the EPS.
As reported by Supersalud on January 27, said extension was valid until July 28, 2023.
On the justification of the intervention, Gaviria stated that Supersalud would be using contradictory termssince while last January it had justified its extension by pointing out that the EPS had improved in several of its indicators, in its decision this Friday it denied that improvement.
“The grounds for the decision are contradictory, because it is said that no progress has been made or improved in Savia Salud since the surveillance measure that the EPS has had for 6 years, but of the 19 phoenix indicators (basic indicators with which it is measured the performance of the EPS) in 2018 Savia did not turn 10 and turned 9, but today, as of May 2023, Savia turns 14 and does not turn 5”, he argued.
“It is said that there are serious flaws in the more than 1.6 million affiliates. That is false. There may be failures with some of the affiliates, which happens with all the EPS in the country and with all the health services in the world, but It seems that the message is being sent to public opinion that there have been failures in the care of all Savia Salud affiliates. that is totally falseGaviria added.
The governor’s statements come a few hours after the Superintendency of Health made the decision to initiate an administrative intervention on Savia Salud final, arguing that this EPS has Serious failures in the provision of services to its affiliates and financial problems that put it at risk.
This action will imply that the National Government will not only replace the management and the board of directors of that public-private organization, but it will take possession of all his “goods, assets and businesses”.
“The execution of the health model in the EPS has not managed to improve the health indicators because their deterioration is evident, as well as the risk of increases in the cost of services due to failures in actionsespecially at the first level of care, related to prevention and early detection of the disease”, said Supersalud in its statement.
In addition to being the EPS of more than 1.6 million Antioqueños, Savia’s intervention has generated concern in the department’s hospital network, with which, according to figures from the Colombian Association of Clinics and Hospitals accumulated a debt of $394,910 million with a cut-off in the first half of 2022.
