GP of Styria: Hamilton dances in the rain, Ocon (very) well placed on the grid – Formula 1

After a spectacular qualifying session, the six-time British world champion signed 89th pole position in his career. Esteban Ocon will start from 5th row behind the wheel of his Renault.

Lewis Hamilton signed his 89th career pole position on Saturday at the Spielberg circuit (Austria) during spectacular and breathtaking Styrian Grand Prix qualifying. On a soggy track, the Briton overtook Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Carlos Sainz (McLaren) and Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes). Note the excellent 5th place of Esteban Ocon on Renault in front of Lando Norris (McLaren) penalized by three places. Alexander Albon (Red Bull) signed 7th time ahead of Pierre Gasly, excellent 8th at the wheel of his Alpha Tauri.
