The Varadero resort, in Matanzas, hosted the inauguration of a new luxury Cuban hotel with more than 500 rooms. This is the Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort, 15 minutes from the Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport. According to Sergio Álvarez, commercial director of Archipiélago International for the Americas, the hotel is focused on the adolescent market segment. For this reason, it sets the goal of receiving guests from 11 years old.
Furthermore, with this new hotel, the Aston brand has a total of 3,500 rooms under its management in Cuba. These are divided between the tourist centers of Cayo Las Brujas, Havana, Cayo Paredón and Guardalavaca.
Meanwhile, the Grand Aston Varadero is credited with five restaurants dedicated to Nikkei, Venetian, signature, barbecue, bio-buffet and Cuban cuisine.
But, in addition to this, it also has several cafes and bar services. On the other hand, its relaxation offer includes the Ubud spa, with revitalizing treatments by professional experts.
It also boasts extensive swimming pools with sun loungers, parasols and options for snacks and cocktails.
More and more hotels in Cuba
The truth is that, in a context marked by the crisis of basic services in Cuba, the country has not stopped the construction of tourist projects.
For example, another luxury hotel, the Meliá Trinidad Peninsula resort, was inaugurated on the Ancón peninsula, in Trinidad, Sancti Spíritus.
The facility is described as a beachfront accommodation, with 401 rooms. It has beautiful views of the Sierra del Escambray and is located just 15 minutes from the historic center of Trinidad. Precisely, its location in this colonial city is one of its greatest attractions.
But, it must be taken into consideration that all these hotel openings are occurring during the peak tourist period in Cuba.
The country’s interest in investing in hotel facilities is more than evident despite the current situation that the Island is experiencing today.
