The Bahraini capital, Manama, received the delegation of the UAE national team for people of determination, “Knights of the Will”, which is preparing to launch the journey to participate in the third West Asian Paralympic Games, which will officially start tomorrow, Sunday in Bahrain, and will continue until February 26, with the participation of 700 players representing 11 countries.

The delegation of the UAE national team, which is the largest among the participants in the West Asian Paralympic event in its third edition, included 114 people headed by Juma Al Nuaimi, member of the Board of Directors of the National Paralympic Committee and director of the mission, and included 64 players, along with 22 coaches and coaches, in addition to members of the administrative, medical bodies Support services, escorts.

The UAE national team is competing in 6 competitions in athletics, boccia, powerlifting, badminton, table tennis, and wheelchair basketball.

Theban Al Muhairi, Secretary-General of the UAE Paralympic Committee, was keen to bid farewell to the UAE team’s delegation upon its departure from Dubai Airport, urging the players to the need for honorable representation, and to raise the UAE flag high in the expected participation, which is of particular importance in light of the fact that the UAE is one of the founders of the West Asian Federation, In addition to hosting the first edition of the course in Khorfakkan 2017.

Regarding the ambitions of participating, Al Muhairi said: “Our main goal is to compete for the first place in the general medal standings, driven by our previous successes, the latest of which was getting third place during participation in the second edition, which was held in Jordan in 2019.”

The Secretary-General of the UAE Paralympic Committee added: “We decided to participate with a mixture of experienced and young players, as there are, for example, among the national team’s list of champions of international achievements such as Muhammad Khamis, the Paralympic champion for powerlifting, in addition to a group of young players who participate for the first time and do not exceed the age of 15 years. ».

For his part, Juma Al Nuaimi, Board Member of the National Paralympic Committee and Director of the Mission, confirmed the readiness of the UAE national team players to provide a positive participation.

Al-Naimi said: “The West Asian Games aim to provide an opportunity for the largest number of male and female players from the countries of the region to show their sports talents.”
