Green hydrogen takes its place in Morocco

A “Morocco offer” is said to be being developed, under the initiative of King Mohammed VI, knowing that the country has significant potential that can capture up to 4% of the world’s demand for green molecules, i.e. nearly 3 billions of dollars.

Moreover, Morocco intends to join forces with the Indian Gautam Adani, with a view to concretizing investment decisions for at least two competitive industrial projects in 2023. The Indian energy giant, Adani Group, plans to build wind and solar power plants in Morocco, to produce green hydrogen for the European market. The project, which would be Adani’s largest clean energy development outside India, might reach 10 gigawatts.
Accompanying this vision, OCP is also embarking on the production of this renewable energy, to produce green ammonia, with the installation of a 1.2 GW solar farm and a wind farm of 2. 6GW. The long-term goal is to end its status as the world’s largest importer of ammonia.
