Green sling against the future Geneva-Servette ice rink

The ecologists of Lancy, where the Trèfle-Blanc ice hockey enclosure is planned, set their conditions. Mobility is at the heart of their criticisms.

After the Cantonal Greens, who recently displayed their opposition to the construction of a new setting for the Genève-Servette HC in Lancy for environmental reasons, the communal section of the party is also tackling the project. She will present this Thursday a draft resolution which asks the authorities of Lancet to set conditions for the Council of State. These mainly concern mobility in the Trèfle-Blanc sector, chosen to host the future complex.

The weather is slipping

Elected environmentalists demand the removal – or “at least a drastic resizing” – of the 1,200-space exchange car park planned under the ice rink (read box). They demand that “very careful” reflection be carried out on the pedestrian paths as well as the public spaces at Trèfle-Blanc. They also want guarantees on the environmental standards “both in terms of construction and operation” of future buildings. Finally, the Greens lanceens demand broad consultation with the population of the municipality.

“We are not against ice hockey, but we are wondering about the priorities to be given in this canton, notes Caroline Monod, municipal councilor of the Greens and co-author of the text. If the project were to materialize, then we want it to be as good as possible for the climate and the quality of life of the Lanceans.”
